CT Scans

CT scans, or Computed Tomography, offer precise, detailed images of internal structures by combining multiple X-ray measurements.

At Bendigo Radiology, our CT (Computed Tomography) scans employ advanced X-ray technology to create precise cross-sectional images or ‘slices’ of your body.

This imaging technique is pivotal for providing detailed insights into the internal structures of the body, allowing doctors to clearly visualise and assess areas of interest for diagnostic accuracy.

During a CT scan, you will experience a non-invasive, painless procedure designed for maximum comfort. You'll be asked to lie on a motorised table that slides into a donut-shaped scanner. As the scanner rotates around you, it emits X-rays that pass through your body, capturing detailed images from various angles. These images are then reconstructed into a three-dimensional model by a computer to provide a comprehensive view of the area being examined.

In some cases, you may be given an oral or intravenous contrast agent prior to the scan. This contrast highlights specific organs, blood vessels, or tissues, making them more visible on the CT images, which enhances the diagnostic effectiveness of the scan.

HOW IT WORKS

Lie down on the bed and remain still as you pass through a donut-shaped camera that rotates around you, capturing detailed cross-sectional images of your body.

How long will my appointment take?

The total time for a CT scan appointment at Bendigo Radiology typically ranges from 30 to 60 minutes. This includes the preparation time, where you may need to ingest oral contrast, and the scanning time itself, which generally takes about 10-20 minutes depending on the complexity of the area being examined. We strive to ensure that your appointment is as quick and efficient as possible, while still delivering high-quality imaging results.
